Our story begins ... June 16, 2022
Freinds of Willow Park, Inc. was formed by community volunteers to create a safe, ADA friendly park and playground in Sodus point, NY
Our Beginning
first steps
DISCOVERY AND FOCUS
Committee formed
Our committee was formed on July 11, 2022. We spent the summer visiting public ADA parks in Cayuga, Tompkins, Ontario and Montroe Counties.
Researched ADA Parks
Committee discovered that there were NO ADA public parks in Wayne Coungy.
Acquired Funds
The village granted committee funding from American Rescue Funds ($15,000) to study the full utilization of Willow Park to hire a Landscape Engineering Company.
Hired Barton & Loguidice
The committee prepared an RFQ and interviewed 3 firms and recommended hiring B & L to prepare an engineering plan for Willow Park
Plans accepted
On September 21, 2023, the Sodus Point Village Board Formally adopted the plans prepared for Willow Park by
B & L.
Safety First
FWP brings in certified playground safety specialist to analyze what needs to be done to make current playground safe for play until improvements are carried out.
Our Mission

MOVING FORWARD
Friends of Willow Park, Inc (FWP) formalized and became a 501.c.3 on November 11, 2023. FWP and the Village of Sodus Point created a Memorandum of Understanding with FWP to raise the necessary funds and to implement the B & L plan. Our group (FWP) is determined to exist in perpetuity to maintain a safe playground.
